This beautiful Mouth of the Orisha's Choker has been handcrafted using genuine leather, and cowrie shells in a light ivory color. Cowrie shells are known to bring good luck and to protect the spirit of the wearer, and many tribes use them in spiritual ceremonies. They also are a sign of femininity and fertility, with women often wearing them not only to help them conceive, but to help them give birth safely. They were also used as a form of currency and ankhcestoral communication.

The beaded portion of the choker is 14 inches (35.5 cm) long, and approximately 1.25 inches (3 cm) wide. Each of the tie strips is 13 inches long. They can be trimmed down to a length of your choice if desired.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS:

Store the jewelry away from direct sunlight and water. When worn, please keep it away from perfumes, lotions, oils or any other chemical products, as all of the above factors can damage your new handmade treasures.

 

Taking care of your jewelry is very simple. Please note that it is normal for some jewelry to get dirty or tarnish as it ages, especially the ones that are silver or silver plated. This means it darkens, appears dirty, and loses its shine. Tarnish can improve an artistic look of jewelry, but it is recommended and a best practice to periodically freshen it up and at least clean the portions that make contact with the skin.

Jewelry can be easily and quickly cleaned with a little baking soda or toothpaste and an old toothbrush: just lather up the paste with the toothbrush, and start scrubbing the dirt and tarnish away. Give it a quick rinse, dry immediately and your jewelry will be looking like new! Please make sure to avoid contact with resin to avoid unnecessary scratches..

The chockers are made to order. Each and every piece of jewelry is handmade, unique and may not look 100% identical as the other piece or the listing picture (no two pare alike). 

 

All of our pieces of jewelry are lead-free, nickel-free, and are made out of hypoallergenic materials such as zinc-alloy, stainless steel, gold or silver plated stainless steel or 925 silver (see each item); and are made of high quality non toxic materials.

 

Please note that this item contains cowrie shells derived from nature, therefore, some chockers may not look identical to the listing pictures, not only because each piece is carefully created by hand but also because of the fact that everything in nature has its own one of a kind pattern, that makes each piece an unique creation. The slight difference between the hues of cowrie shells should not be so different from the listing photo as to change the look of the peice.
